On the way into Normanton look for our iconic Big Barra on the left hand side of the road. It's a very popular with travelling photographers, and some people have even taken some funny photos, like this one pictured right.

Gulfland Motel is the booking agent for the TransNorth Bus, servicing passengers from Cairns to Normanton and Karumba. Passengers can view the amazing scenery, escarpment, animals and bird life from an elevated comfortable seat on the bus.
As it now arrives and departs from the Gulfland Motel, it provides an opportunity for passengers to stay 2 nights in the historical town of Normanton, spend time in the visitor centre, take photos of the "Big Croc" and "Big Barramundi", bird watch and enjoy a ride on the Gulflander train.
They can then travel to Karumba to spend a couple of nights at this unique fishing village on the shores of the Gulf of Carpentaria before taking the return journey to their destination.
